The safari experience at Africa Alive near Lowestoft offers you the amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Africa's iconic animals, as well as lesser-known animals from the continent. The park boasts several of Africa's largest mammal species, ranging from giraffes to rhinos and from zebras to buffalo. However, smaller mammals are present too: including, but not limited to the porcupine, meerkat, fennec fox, mongoose and several bat species. To get close to our nearest cousins, the park has a chimpanzee exhibition. Visitors get the feeling of being in Madagascar when they view one of many lemur species on display. The park is most famous for its big cats: African lions and cheetahs. Additionally, the park has reptiles as diverse as pythons, tortoises and geckos, and birds are featured, too. Visitors can roam the 100-acre coastal parkland on foot or on the Safari Roadtrain and share the air with the animals. But for the most immersive experience, visitors can prearrange a day trip where they get to be keeper for a day! For an additional fee, visitors tag along with professional keepers and get to feed lions, cheetahs or aardvarks.
