What is Chester Zoo?

Chester Zoo is one of the top 15 zoos in the world. It has achieved this reputation through its beautiful enclosures. They are designed with animal welfare and visitors' viewing opportunities in mind. Enclosures such as the Fruit Bat Forest and the Butterfly Journey allow visitors to share the animals' space and to be truly immersed in nature. However, Chester Zoo has many more species on display for everyone to enjoy. There are over 400 species spread over the various enclosures. Mammals include big cats, elephants, zebras, giraffes and bears. You can see various species of birds, including penguins and hornbills. Cold-blooded visitors will enjoy the snakes, lizards, crocodiles and turtles. In addition to several species of amphibians and fish, many invertebrates are spread across themed areas. One of the biggest orang utan exhibits in the world can be found right here. The Zoo is also famous for Spirit of the Jaguar, the world's best and largest jaguar enclosure. After watching animals at feeding time, visitors can choose a meal or a tasty snack from one of many stalls to complete their day out; ranging from BBQ beer gardens to a cosy coffee cabin.
