What is Imperial War Museum Duxford?

The Imperial War Museum's site as Duxford Airfield is a world-class war museum with interactive exhibitions, some of the most iconic aircraft in the world, and spectacular air shows. Walk along lines of historic tanks, military vehicles and artillery at the Land Warfare section, and learn about political, military and personal aspects of the theatres of the Second World War in the Far East and Pacific. You can't afford to miss AirSpace: in this enormous exhibition hall you'll find over 30 aircraft which have defined history, including the Concorde, a model of the Wright brothers' aviation landmark Flyer, and of course the legendary British Spitfire. Be sure not to forget the American Air Museum, a memorial to the American airmen who gave their lives during the Second World War. It has a collection including the B-17 Flying Fortress, P-47 Thunderbolt, and even Cold War-era aircraft such as the SR-71 Blackbird. If you're more of a marine mammal, visit Air and Sea to learn about modern-day submarines and aircraft carriers. The airfield is still active, too. Enthusiasts maintain and operate classic aircraft, but additionally, there are air shows on select dates where some of the best-known aircraft perform aerial tricks - alone, or even in squadrons!
