What is Lakeland Wildlife Oasis?
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis in Milnthorpe is a unique zoo; it packs an enormous punch for a zoo its size. The collection of rare and endangered animals is both incredibly diverse and beautiful. The board at the reception indicates when talks will be held; in these talks, the expert staff members will give you an insight in the life of the animals they care for, as well as their diets and conservational status. You'll be amazed by the strength of the leafcutter ants as they pass overhead, carrying leaves many times their own size and weight. You'll get up close to fascinating invertebrates such as stick insects, but also tarantulas, millipedes and the fearsome Goliath bird-eating spider! Find out what a pacu is, it is shrouded in mystery! You'll also get a chance to see mudskippers: they have an incredibly difficult way of life. There are many frogs, salamanders, but also bearded dragons, boas and tortoises. When you walk to the outside parkland, try to spot the elusive snow leopard! Or try to spot smaller animals, such as meerkats, red squirrels, mongooses, maras, pheasants, lemurs, marmosets, squirrel monkeys and the tremendously colourful Bali starling!
